Schools in England have ten weeks of holidays. They break up for two weeks at Christmas, two at Easter and six during the summer. They also have other holidays. They have mid-term breaks, known as half-terms, which are one week long. There are also two public holidays in May. The summer holidays start in July and finish at the beginning of September. Some British Universities keep to the customs of the past. At Oxford University, for example, all students wear long black gowns and students' caps. There is one more tradition to have a roast boar on Christmas where the tutors sit.
