1/ Listen, read and say what Kaniv is famous for.
Every year my school organizes a school trip. Last year the Literature Department organized it. We went to the town where the famous Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko is buried. This is Kaniv. It is situated on the Dnipro River. We set off early in the morning and it took us two hours to get there. We visited Shevchenko's Tomb, put flowers on it and then went to the museum. The excursion was very interesting.
Taras Shevchenko
Taras Shevchenko, a famous Ukrainian poet and artist was born in a poor family. He was a very talented person but he had to work hard because his parents died. He wrote many wonderful poems about hard life of the Ukrainian people. Everybody in Ukraine knows his book Kobsar. His last dream was to be buried on the Dnipro hills in Ukraine. Kaniv is the most visited town in Ukraine now.
