see: the log from the bottom of the tree will sink, the log from the top of the tree will float."

The next morning the young man went to the palace. He took up the logs and threw them into the river. One log sank and the other floated. The young man told which log was from the bottom and which one was from the top.

The king was delighted. "How did you know?" he asked. "Tell me the truth", shouted the king.

And the young man told him the truth. He said that it was his father who helped him. His father knew all those things, because he was an old and wise man. The king understood everything. He canceled his order and asked God to forgive him. His kingdom became peaceful and prosperous.
