Ancient Egypt

The Ancient Egyptians lived about 5, 000 years ago, near the Nile River. They lived near the river because they needed water from the Nile for their farms, they also caught fish in the river.

The ancient Egyptians' king was called a pharaoh. A pharaoh often had three or four wives, but only one wife was the queen, usually she was a pharaoh's sister.

The pyramids were houses for dead pharaohs. The Egyptians put food, clothes, beds, tables and chairs inside the pyramids. They thought that the dead kings needed them.

There were pictures of the pharaohs inside the pyramids. We can learn a lot from these pictures.
